Permanent Shade Stuctures
Permanent shade structures such as porches, ramadas, shade cloths and umbrellas, can provide year-round protection.
Choose structures that use solid wood or metal roofing or shade cloth roofing that screens out at least 95 percent of the ultraviolet radiation or is labeled with a UPF of 15 or greater. (UPF refers to the cloth’s ability to block out the sun’s rays.)
Use materials that are guaranteed not to rot in the sun, tear, or crack for several years.
